UNDATED (AP) — Jimmy Butler is headed to Philadelphia, ending the weeks-long saga of him wanting out of Minnesota. A person with knowledge of the situation says Butler is being traded to the 76ers in a package that will send Dario Saric and Robert Covington to the Timberwolves. The trade gives Philadelphia a star trio, with Butler joining Joel Embiid (joh-EHL’ ehm-BEED’) and Ben Simmons. Butler told the Timberwolves in September he wanted to be traded, and it took weeks for the team to find a deal it would accept.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Dallas Stars have acquired defenseman Taylor Fedun from the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres received a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft from Dallas in a deal announced today. The pick is conditional on Fedun playing in at least 25 games in the regular season and playoffs for Dallas. The 30-year-old Fedun has been playing for Buffalo’s American Hockey League affiliate in Rochester. He played in seven games for the Sabres last season and 27 the previous season.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Brock Boeser (BEH’-sur) will miss at least four games for the Vancouver Canucks because of a groin injury. Boeser returned to Vancouver on Thursday to see a specialist. The Canucks play their next four games on the road before returning home Nov. 17 to face the Montreal Canadiens. Canucks coach Travis Green said prior to a game in Buffalo today that the 21-year-old forward “will be fine” after a period of rest.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State University’s trustees will hear directly from former students who say they were sexually abused by a team doctor. The board says it’s setting aside 20 minutes to hear students’ stories about the late Dr. Richard Strauss at next Friday’s trustees’ meeting. A law firm investigating abuse claims has heard from at least 145 ex-students who have shared firsthand accounts of alleged misconduct by Strauss between 1979 and 1997. Strauss killed himself in 2005.

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Tonight’s men’s basketball game between Cal State Northridge and Pepperdine has been postponed because of wildfires affecting the Malibu campus. The fires have killed two people and destroyed over 150 homes. A makeup date hasn’t been set.
