Local NWTF chapter hosts annual event

August 30, 2018

KITTS HILL, Ohio — Women will enjoy a day of learning new outdoors skills in a fun environment at the 4th annual Women in the Outdoors event Sept. 28-29.

The South Hills Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), headquartered in Kitts Hill, Ohio, will host the event at K-Hill Indoor Gun Range for women of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Knowledgeable instructors will teach activities including arts and crafts, fishing 101, archery, skeet shooting, rifle shooting, canoeing, nature hike, handgun shooting, outdoor cooking and turkey hunting 101, vehicle maintenance, self defense, deer and squirrel hunt.

This year we have made some exciting changes to the event, starting with a new event coordinator for the Women in the Outdoors, Amanda Sammons of Kitts Hill, Ohio. She has already hit the ground running by adding new classes for the women this year including nature photography, Young Living Essential Oils and a pheasant hunt provided by Flush’em High Pheasant Hunts.

“We have some women attend that haven’t hunted or fished before, and many come back to this event every year to have fun and meet new friends, some mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts that have made it a family tradition, and have already signed up for this year’s event,” Sammons said. “But some women have never had the opportunity to spend a day in the woods or on the water. Seeing someone discover the outdoors for the first time, or rediscover something they tried as a kid, is why we’ve hosted this event for the last three years.”

To sign up for the women in the outdoors event, go to www.southhillslong-beards.org, click on the WITO tab at the top of the page and the sign up form is located on that page. Registration is required by Wednesday, Sept. 19, to receive a event shirt. This event is open to ages 14 and older. Ages 14 to 17 must take the classes with a parent or guardian.
