Simpson Resigns From Board of Swiss Army Knife Distributor With AM-Simpson-Slayings, Bjt
SHELTON, Conn. (AP) _ O.J. Simpson has resigned from the board of directors of the company that imports and distributes Swiss Army brand knives, a company spokesman said Monday.
Simpson wrote a letter of resignation July 13, effective as of that date, while in Los Angeles County Jail, said Donald R. Dwight, a spokesman for The Forschner Group Inc. The letter was written on a Simpson company letterhead, O.J. Simpson Enterprises of Los Angeles.
Simpson was re-elected to the board at the company’s annual meeting June 9, just three days before the knife slayings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. He attended the meeting.
Simpson has been on the Forschner board of directors since 1990, Dwight said. He was paid $10,000 a year, plus $1,000 for each meeting he attended.
Simpson has pleaded innocent to two counts of murder in the June 12 slayings.
