Human remains found on Long Island linked to MS-13
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island say human remains found in a wooded area were that of young man killed by the MS-13 street gang.
Nassau County police say the remains were discovered in a shallow grave in East Meadow on Wednesday following tips to law enforcement.
Police say the victim is in his late teenage years and was killed in the location over a year ago. DNA testing will determine his identity. Police believe about five MS-13 gang members involved in the killing are already in custody.
The MS-13 gang has been blamed for at least 25 killings since January 2016 across a wide swath of Long Island.
The violence has led to congressional hearings and visits from Republican President Donald Trump and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
