2 hurt in truck crash in Hinton

HINTON, Iowa -- Two drivers were injured Wednesday in a truck collision in Hinton.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash at 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and Plymouth County Road C-60.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a northbound dump truck driven by Jonathan Degroot, 42, was at the stoplight at the intersection, preparing to pull forward when the light turned green. The truck was struck from behind, then side-swiped by a semi tractor-trailer driven by Ryan Van Gorp, 32.

Both drivers were injured and transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

The crash remains under investigation.
