ROME (AP) _ A second doping test on Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids confirmed traces of the banned steroid nandrolone, the Italian Olympic Committee said Wednesday.

The tests were a ``definitive confirmation,'' the committee said

Davids, a Dutch international, faces automatic suspension by a soccer federation disciplinary commission. It could be followed by a ban from league and international play for up to two years.

Davids first tested positive for the steroid after a Udinese-Juventus Serie A league match in March.

He has denied taking the banned substance.

Seven other Italian league players have tested positive for nandrolone this season.
