OYAMA, Japan (AP) _ Michiko Hattori, the leading money winner last year, shot a 3-under-par 69 Sunday for her first victory this season at the $610,000 Fujitsu Ladies.
Hattori, who entered the day with a five-stroke lead, sank three birdies in the final round and finished with a 12-under 204.
South Korean Ku Ok-hee and Chieko Nishida tied for second at 5-under 211. Ku had a 70 and Nishida a 71 on Sunday.
``I felt little pressure in my bid to win today,″ said Hattori, the 1985 U.S. amateur champion. ``But I wasn’t in top form and I didn’t get everything out of the game.″
After winning the money title with five victories last season, Hattori made changes in her swing at the beginning of the season that haven’t worked so far.
``This victory, after all, means a lot to me. I now have confidence again,″ Hattori said.
The victory, Hattori’s 13th in eight years as a pro, was worth $101,000.
Harumi Sakagami was fourth at 3-under 213.
Japan LPGA Championship winner Fuki Kido and Junko Yasui, winner of two tournaments so far this season, shot 67s and were in a five-way tie for fifth at 2-under 214.
