Vehicle catches fire in Chick-fil-a parking lot

March 21, 2019

A vehicle caught fire late Wednesday morning in the Chick-fil-A parking lot on East Gate Drive in Aiken.

An Aiken Public Safety officer on patrol in the area Wednesday observed smoke coming from the Chick-fil-A parking lot, according to Public Safety Det. Jeremy Hembree.

″…He realized the vehicle was on fire in the parking lot,” Hembree said.

The vehicle – a white Dodge Caravan with a Florida license plate – sustained significant damage from the fire. The source of the fire is unknown at this time.

Hembree said the officer who discovered the vehicle fire went through “basic firefighting methods” to extinguish the fire and limit exposure to other vehicles and people.

No one has been reported injured in the incident. No other cars or nearby property sustained damage.

The driver was inside Chick-fil-A at the time.

The vehicle has been removed from the property.
