City Will Begin Curbside Yard Waste Pickup Monday

WILKES-BARRE — The City of Wilkes-Barre will begin curbside yard waste collection Monday. Curbside yard waste collection follows residents’ regular garbage and recycling collection schedule:  Monday — Downtown and South Wilkes-Barre 1.  Tuesday — North End, Heights, Brookside.  Wednesday — Mayflower, Rolling Mill Hill, Iron Triangle and Goose Island.  Thursday — South Wilkes-Barre 2.  Friday — East End, Parsons and Miners Mills. Beginning Monday, residents can also drop off yard waste at the Department of Public Works Garage, 3 Conyngham Ave., Wilkes-Barre, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. During the summer, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the drop-off hours are between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Accepted items include leaf waste, grass clippings, sod, garden residue, garden waste and wood waste. Yard waste will be accepted in yard waste bins and yard waste bags, but bags must be made of paper only. — STAFF REPORT
