October 13, 2018

EDINBURG — The council here named Pharr City Manager Juan Guerra to lead the city following the mid-September resignation of Pilar Rodriguez.

Guerra was one of three finalist for the Brownsville City Manager position.

Council member David Torres nominated Guerra after about an hour of discussion in executive session during a special meeting Friday. The vote was unanimous with all but Homer Jasso Jr. present. Jasso is currently attending a Texas Municipal League conference, Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina said.

Guerra, who will fill the seat vacated by Rodriguez, was also recently named a finalist for the same position in Brownsville, which he did not get.

Edinburg leaders will host a press conference at 4 p.m. Friday at Edinburg City Hall to introduce Guerra to the community.
