Lloyd L. “Gabby” Gadbois, 92, of Kankakee, passed away peacefully at his home at Presence Heritage Village in Kankakee, on Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2019).
He was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Kankakee, the son of Eugene and Zella (Chouinard) Gadbois. Lloyd married Margaret “Peggy” Henry on June 23, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla. She preceded him in death April 10, 2017.
Gabby was an electrician and a member of the IBEW Local 176 for 45 years. He was a tool and die maker for A.O. Smith and Ford Motor Corporation. Gabby was a founding member of Kankakee Wood Carvers and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.
Gabby was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Corps.
Surviving are four sons and four daughters-in-law, Barry and Linda Gadbois, of Bourbonnais, Brad and Willa Gadbois, of Blaine, Minn., Brian and Kendra Gadbois, of Bradley, and Brandon and Lori Gadbois, of Bradley; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie Thompson, of Bourbonnais, Brenda and Danny Moore, of Houston, and Beth and Dennis Bisaillon, of Bradley; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae Briggs, of Elkhart, Ind.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Beverly Gadbois, of Denver.
In addition to his wife of 72 years, Peggy Gadbois, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Gadbois.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. The Rev. Charles Wheeler will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.
