Letter to the editor: Making a difference in New Ken
It was refreshing and encouraging to read Madasyn Czebiniak’s article “New Kensington YMCA garden program grows young men into leaders” (July 20, TribLIVE). Too often we read and hear about troubled youth whose lives are cut short due to drug addiction or gun-related violence. This article clearly shows that the volunteer mentoring efforts of men and women like Jerry Jefferson and his partnership with the YMCA and Farming God’s Way are making a difference by giving youth alternatives.
Forming character. leadership and spiritual growth in the youth of our community and at the same time bringing our community together by building positive relationships can only help New Kensington’s future. I commend those in local government who look to support these efforts, and may God continue to bless Jerry and his ministries.
