Green Drinks to meet Tuesday

Organic farmers Harry Carr and Harold Wilken will be the Green Drinks featured speakers from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Meetings are held at BrickStone Brewery in Bourbonnais.

Carr is the owner of Mint Creek Farm in Stelle, a diversified, pasture-based livestock and poultry farm, raising premium, grass-fed meats for the Chicago area. Along with selling at farmers markets, they offer a variety of Community Supported Agriculture packages and several farm tour and dinner events.

Wilken is the owner of Janie’s Farm Organics, a diversified grain farm in Ashkum growing wheat, oats, rye, emmer, einkorn, buckwheat, corn, soybeans, black turtle beans, alfalfa, popcorn, seed corn and Kernza, a perennial grain developed by The Land Institute. A new endeavor at their farm, The Mill at Janie’s Farm, offers fresh, stone-ground, whole-kernel flours and wheat berries.
