Letter: Continue the capital project tax
The Capital Project Sales Tax continuation will be on the November ballot. This 1-cent sales tax has funded infrastructure projects throughout Aiken County including road repair, upgrades to Citizen Park, Odell Weeks, EMS/public safety stations, two gyms in North Augusta, the Aiken County Animal Shelter and more others.
All CPST projects are approved by a citizens’ committee.
The CPST is the best method of funding county infrastructure. Visitors and tourists pay 30 percent of the revenue. The CPST replaces property tax increases which impacts homeowners and renters alike, and bonds which create debt and interest payments.
