Woman, Child Hurt in Overpass Jump
WANTAUGH, N.Y. (AP) _ A woman scratched the message ``I have no life″ on the hood of her car and jumped from a highway overpass with her 6-year-old daughter in her arms, police said. The two were critically injured.
The mother and child suffered head and abdominal injuries in the 20-foot fall Monday afternoon on Long Island.
State police said Patricia Ramirez, 24, of Brentwood, parked her car on the shoulder of the Wantaugh State Parkway and walked to the top of the overpass with her daughter, Briana Ebony Lester.
A taxi driver who witnessed the fall blocked the road with his car to prevent the woman and child from being run over, police said.
Police said they will charge Ms. Ramirez with assault and attempted murder.
