STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The Providence Service Corp. (PRSC) on Tuesday reported a second-quarter loss of $12.3 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 95 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and restructuring costs, came to 13 cents per share.

The provider of government-sponsored social services posted revenue of $411.8 million in the period.

Providence Service shares have risen 23 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 45 percent in the last 12 months.
