SOREL-TRACY, Quebec (AP) _ Guy Boros, the son of two-time U.S. Open champion Julius Boros, shot a 4- under-par 68 to share the second-round lead with Kelly Gibson in the Transamerica CPGA championship.

Boros of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Gibson of New Orleans have 9-under 135 totals through Friday’s round on the 6,755-yard Dunes course. First-round leader Robert Meyer of Sacramento, Calif., was two strokes back after a 72.


PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Trail Blazers have signed reserve forward Cliff Robinson to a contract extension through the 1995-96 season.

Team spokesman John Lashway said Friday that Robinson will have the option of extending the contract through the 1996-97 season. Robinson, who averaged 11.7 points and 4.3 rebounds last season, had one season left on his original contract.

The Blazers don’t release contract figures, but The Oregonian quoted unidentified sources as saying Robinson will receive about $9 million over five years. He was to receive about $300,000 for the 1991-92 season on his original pact.


CARY, N.C. (AP) - Greg Hickman shot a 5-under 65 to share the second-round lead with David Miley in the T.C. Jordan Tour’s Cellular One championship.

Hickman and Miley, who shot a 67 on Friday, have 7-under 133 totals on the Prestonwood Country Club course. Ron Springer was two strokes back after a 67.


NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - Top-seeded John Lloyd defeated Marty Riessen 6-3, 6-3, and second-seeded Hank Pfister beat Sherwood Stewart 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of the Grand Champions grass-court tournament at Newport Casino.

In other quarterfinal matches Friday in the over-35 tournament, Sandy Mayer defeated third-seeded Vijay Amritraj 7-5, 6-4, and fourth-seeded Jaime Fillol beat Brian Teacher 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.


PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - David Dawley parred the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to defeat Chip Spiron in the PGA Junior Championship at the PGA National Golf Club.

Dawley of Chandler, Okla., and Spiron of Goldsboro, N.C., completed regulation play Friday with 11-over-par 299 totals on the 6,572-yard Champion course. Dawley closed with a 77 and Spiron had a 70.

After matching bogeys on the first extra hole, Dawley two-putted for par on the second hole and Spiron missed his a 6-foot par putt.

In the girls division, Julie Brand of Alder Creek, N.Y., shot a 78 for a 305 total and a three-stroke victory over Jeong Min Park of Alameda, Calif.
