Bridge Project Discussion

TEWKSBURY -- The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is hosting a public hearing at the Tewksbury Town Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. There will be discussion on the proposed Bridge Scour Protection Project on Mill Street, over the Shawsheen River.

The proposed project includes “installing stone rip-rap scour protection, new guardrail, drainage improvements and pavement overlay at the existing double culvert Bridge Structure,” according to a memo from MassDOT.

Residents can learn more about the project as well as have their comments considered for review.

Wilmington cultural grants

WILMINGTON -- The deadline to apply for grants from the Wilmington Cultural Council is Monday, Oct. 15. Organizations, schools and individuals are welcome to apply for the grants, which fund cultural activities in Wilmington. The council will award about $5,000 in grant funding.

In the past, musical performances, plays, lectures and painting workshops have been supported through this grant program.

Masons host open house

WILMINGTON -- The Friendship Lodge of Masons is hosting an open house on Saturday, Oct. 20. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 32 Church St.

Members of the Friendship Lodge are involved in a number of activities and charity work, including providing scholarships to Wilmington High School graduates, sponsoring Red Cross blood drives, loaning and installing wheel chair ramps in the greater Wilmington area and more. The lodge also hosts a number of social and community events. There are currently 140 members of the Friendship Lodge.

People are encouraged to come to the open house to see the lodge, meet the masons and learn more about the Friendship Lodge of Masons.
