Easter Sue Hanna Favored in Levy Pace
YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) _ Easter Sue Hanna, who set a record by winning five preliminary legs in the George Morton Levy Pace, was listed Thursday as the 8-5 favorite in the $180,000 championship final Saturday night at Yonkers Raceway.
Easter Sue Hanna drew the rail in the eight-horse field and will be driven by Walter Case, Jr., who took the 6-year-old to each of the preliminary victories.
Misfit, a 7-year-old, who scored a major upset by defeating Riyadh in the William Houghton Pace last year, is the 3-1 second choice and will start from the No. 2 gate with driver Ron Pierce.
Riyadh, winner of the Levy a year ago in 1:53.4, third fastest time in the 19-year history of the event, will try to become the first repeat champion in the one-mile race. The 6-year-old is the 7-5 third pick and will start from the fifth post position with Jack Moisevyev driving.
The race is named in memory of the longtime president of the now-closed Roosevelt Raceway who also founded night-time harness racing.
