Eagle Scout creates welcome signs for Friedens

April 6, 2019

Kurt Allen Pucci, son of Tim and Lori Pucci, of Friedens, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Kurt Pucci is a member of Friedens Boy Scout Troop 152 and a senior at Somerset Area High School. He has been involved in Scouting for 13 years, beginning as a Tiger Cub. On his journey to Eagle Scout, Kurt Pucci earned 25 merit badges, held several offices — including assistant patrol leader, scribe, chaplain and Order of the Arrow representative — and showed leadership skills needed in overseeing and completing an Eagle Scout project.

His Eagle Scout project was to design and erect road signs along Route 281 to welcome travelers to the village of Friedens. One sign can be seen at the airport entrance while the second can be found at the other end of Friedens near the intersection of Route 281 and Hilltop Road.

Kurt Pucci has participated in two National Scout Jamborees and the National Order of the Arrow Conference. In addition to Scouting, he has been on several high school sports teams, including soccer, football and tennis. He also plays PA West soccer and was a goalkeeper for the Foothills soccer club. He enjoys participating in Crossroads Youth Ministry activities, traveling to other countries, scuba diving and hunting. He is a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and the Friedens Volunteer Fire Co.

Kurt Pucci plans to attend Geneva College this fall to study business and aviation with a goal of becoming a commercial pilot. He will also be a kicker on the Golden Tornadoes football team.
