Pappas named academic all-district
HUNTINGTON — Marshall University men’s soccer senior defender John Pappas was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academi c All-District team.
“John is an excellent and diligent student,” Marshall head coach Chris Grassie said in a Herd-Zone.com release. “He works really hard on his studies and always goes above and beyond just class and study hours. He goes the extra mile and I’m happy for him that he is being recognized for that. He has a clear career goal in mind and he deserves this recognition for combining his soccer and academic success.”
Pappas, a criminal justice major, is a three-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and is in line to make it four-for-four in his collegiate career. The Oceanside, New York, native received the C-USA Academic Medal in 2017-18 for maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75.
He appeared in all 19 of Marshall’s matches this season with 16 starts.
HUNTINGTON — Liberty University finished a two-day women’s swimming and diving victory Saturday against Marshall, winning 251-200 in Fitch Natatorium at Cam Henderson Center.
Liberty is 8-0 while Marshall is 0-3. The Flames have won all five meetings with the Thundering Herd.
