Katy Taste Fest benefits local charities

November 10, 2018

Katy Taste Fest 2018 featured more than 35 local restaurants sampling bites including Indian, barbecue, Mexican and Chinese to benefit Katy-area charities.

The festival, a celebration of community, is a first for Katy foodies showcasing the diversity of Katy’s dining community. Villagio Town Center hosted the culinary festival for the second year with more than 1,200 people in attendance.

The 2018 festival raised over $20,000 with all proceeds from the event going to local charities including Katy Cares, Krause Children’s Center and Westside Homeless Prevention.

“Katy Taste Fest is a powerful opportunity for raising awareness about our children’s center and the volunteer possibilities at the Krause Center, and we are so thankful for those who sponsor and give of their time and talents to make this happen” said Diane Covert of Krause Children’s Center. The center offers in-depth clinical therapy, personal development activities and spiritual care in a safe setting for young women. Visit www.upbring.org/krausechildrenscenter for information.

More recently, Katy Taste Fest held a social for sponsors and supporters where checks were presented to the beneficiaries. In addition, the 2019 date was announced: March 23.

“When we, as a community, pull together for the common good, the power of our unified efforts is boundless. We are ‘Better Together!’ Katy Cares is honored to come alongside such an amazing organization to love and serve our community”, said Denise Mayfield, president/CEO of Katy Cares. Katy Cares provides specialized therapeutic-housing services to mothers and their children affected by situational homelessness. Visit www.katycares.com for more information.
