Lemieux’s Son Progresses
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Pittsburgh Penguins star Mario Lemieux said Thursday his infant son, born three months prematurely in March, remains hospitalized but continues to improve.
Austin Nicholas, Lemieux’s third child and first son, ``is doing well and should be coming home soon,″ Lemieux said.
Lemieux’s son weighed only 2 pounds, 9 ounces on May 3, but now weighs 3 pounds, 10 ounces. The boy’s health problems forced Lemieux to skip some practices and adversely affected his play for several weeks.
Lemieux did not disclose the problems until he matched a career high by scoring five goals against St. Louis on March 26, a day after learning his son was out of danger.
