HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) _ Intergraph Corp. is one of a few Fortune 500 companies in high-tech Huntsville:

COMPANY: Intergraph Corp.

HEADQUARTERS: Huntsville, Ala.

EMPLOYEES: 10,500, half in Huntsville.

PRODUCTS: Computer-generated maps and designs for such diverse products as aspirin bottles, fiberglass boats, Navy ships, police dispatching systems.

CLIENTS: Rand McNally, National Geographic, Honda, TV Guide, the city of Riverside, Calif., and the U.S. military, which used its maps during bombing raids in the Persian Gulf War.

″We have the database for all of Kuwait, its streets, power lines and sewers, all the infrastructure,″ said Keith Britnell, a spokesman for Intergraph. ″We finished it three weeks before the war started.″

1991 REVENUE: $1.2 billion vs. $1 billion in 1990.

1991 NET INCOME: $71.1 million vs. $62.6 million in 1990.

FUTURE: Business has slowed in the recession, though analysts say company is in good shape, spending 11.2 percent of revenue on research and development in 1991 and 10.5 percent in 1990.
