The following preliminary hearings are scheduled before District Judge Bill Seger in Windber:

Driving under the influence

A 62-year-old Windber man is facing charges of driving under the influence, general impairment and failure to use required lighted lamps. Windber Borough police said Sidney G. Walker Jr., of 3rd Street, was pulled over around 5:12 p.m. Sunday after being seen driving on Graham Avenue without headlights. He showed signs of intoxication, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the hospital in Windber, where his blood alcohol content was found to be 0.188 percent. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Jan. 23.

Access device fraud

A 27-year-old Johnstown woman has been charged with access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle. Windber Borough police said Samantha Lynn Snyder, Catherine Street, took credit cards, $40 in cash and a passport from a purse located inside a doctor’s car at Chan Soon-Shiong Medical Center sometime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 30. The doctor reported the items missing at the end of her workday and found, while freezing her bank account, that the card was used to make three withdrawals totaling $467.25 in the City of Johnstown during the time she didn’t have it. According to police, video surveillance at the ATM machines showed that Snyder was the person making the withdrawals. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 23.

Drug paraphernalia

A Central City man is facing several charges after a syringe and empty stamp bags were found in his vehicle. According to state police, a vehicle belonging to 31-year-old John Thomas Bottorff, Lohr Street, was reported for erratic driving at approximately 7:16 p.m. Nov. 9. He was pulled over along Rock Cut Road about a mile south of Central City. Police said Bottorff had glassy eyes and pinpoint pupils. He told them he’d used heroin in the past, and drug paraphernalia was found in his vehicle. Bottorff was taken to Somerset Hospital, where he tested positive for marijuana, methadone, codeine, morphine and fentanyl, police said. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:45 a.m. Jan. 23.
