Cedar Ridge HS activates safety plan after threat found in girl’s bathroom
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday it plans to have extra officers at Cedar Ridge High School Wednesday after graffiti scrawled on a stall in a girl’s bathroom suggested a shooting would happen on campus.
A spokeswoman for the sheriff said they are working with the school system to increase campus patrols and to bring in additional resources as a precaution.
The message threatened gunfire on campus and a suicide on May 29.
The school’s principal emailed parents and made robocalls to parents about the message.
“The threat was written as vandalism in a stall in the girls bathroom,” the principal wrote in the email. “Since we take the safety and security of all students and staff seriously, we have worked with law enforcement to implement a safety plan.”
School administrators urged students to report anything suspicious to educators.
