DAVIE, Fla. (AP) _ Two employees were fatally shot in an apparent robbery at a Waffle House restaurant early Monday and a third was wounded, police said.

The wounded employee, shot in the head, managed to walk about 100 yards to a neighboring gas station to get help. The two others, a man and a woman, were found in a freezer at the restaurant, said Gary Killam, Davie police spokesman.

The restaurant’s cash register was found open when the police arrived shortly before 5 a.m., Killam said.

No one had been arrested by midday, authorities said.

The wounded woman was airlifted to Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Killam said the woman walked to a Shell gas station and asked the attendant, Danish Kahn, to lock the door and call 911.

Kahn said the woman told him, ``I’ve been shot in the head,″ before lying down on the floor and waiting for the police to arrive.

The Waffle House is just east of Interstate 75 in Davie, about 10 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale.

The identities of the victims were not released. The three victims were alone in the building at the time of the shooting.
