Arnott out four weeks

December 31, 1996

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ The Edmonton Oilers have lost Jason Arnott for at least the next four weeks with a fractured left ankle.

The center was hit by a Boris Mironov slapshot Friday night when the Oilers played Philadelphia.

Arnott was out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against San Jose and Monday night’s meeting with Los Angeles. The injury was originally described as a deep bone bruise of the left ankle, but X-rays at the time were inconclusive regarding a break. The team announced late Monday that surgery would be required to insert two pins in a fracture.

Arnott had 32 points in 38 games with Edmonton this season.

``It’s not going to be easy. We’re going to miss his scoring,″ Edmonton coach Ron Low said.
