WASHINGTON — Christine Blasey Ford’s voice became public for the first time Thursday. It broke at times. It was soft and sometimes pinched or swallowed back, but it echoed across the country.

In a Senate hearing room, the research psychologist detailed her accusation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her decades ago while they were in high school in suburban Maryland.
