Tufts gets $15M donation to bolster students’ civic lives
MEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Tufts University says a $15 million donation will help the school prepare students for active civic lives.
The donation comes from business leader and Tufts trustee Jonathan Tisch, and his wife, Lizzie. It will support research in civic studies, and create professorships and student internships at the private university of 11,000 students in Medford.
Tufts says its college of citizenship and public service will be renamed the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life. The college was already named for Tisch after he donated $40 million in 2006, but Tufts say the new name better fits the college’s mission.
Tufts President Anthony Monaco said the donation will be used to help young people become agents of positive change, regardless of their profession.
