Ritz Playing Movies Again

October 2, 2018

SCRANTON — Movies returned to the historic Ritz Theater & Performing Arts Center, 222 Wyoming Ave., on Monday. The Creative and Performing Arts Academy of NEPA, or CAPAA, took over the historic building nearly two years ago, said chief executive Michael Melcher. With stage, lights and curtains in order, CAPAA wanted to get more use of the building by playing previously released and classic films. “We thought this is a great opportunity to dig into the history of the property and start talking about movies again,” he said. Showtimes are at 10 a.m., 1 and 3:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Weekly lineups are published on the Ritz Facebook page. Tickets cost $3 per person; $2 for students and seniors. — JON O’CONNELL
