Predators Exercise Contract Options

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ The Nashville Predators exercised contract options for next season on forwards Vladimir Orszagh and Vitali Yachmenev, and defenseman Kimmo Timonen on Sunday.

The team also exercised the option on goalie Mike Dunham’s contract for the 2004-05 season, and signed defenseman Robert Schabel to a contract extension.

Orszagh, 25, had 15 goals and 21 assists in 79 games for the Predators last season _ his first full NHL campaign.

Yachmenev, 27, ranks fourth among the Predators in career games played with 276. He had 16 assists in 75 games last season.

Last season, Timonen, 27, had career highs in goals (13), assists (29) and points (42).

Dunham, 30, was a member of the U.S. Olympic team in Salt Lake City. He set career highs in wins (23) and games played (58) last season with the Predators.

Schabel, 23, made his NHL debut on Jan. 12. He played mostly for the Predators’ top minor league affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
