New York at Indiana (8:30 p.m. EDT). The Pacers look to even the Eastern Conference finals. The Knicks wrested homecourt advantage away by winning the first game of the best-of-7 series.
_ Sean Elliott, Spurs, made six of seven 3-pointers, including the game-winner with nine seconds to play, to lift San Antonio to an 86-85 victory over Portland. Elliott finished with 22 points.
Only seven teams have come back from a 2-0 deficit in a seven-game series. And only two, the 1994 Houston Rockets and 1969 Los Angeles Lakers, made such a comeback after losing the first two games at home. Indiana lost the first game of the Eastern Conference finals at home to the New York Knicks on Sunday.
San Antonio's Sean Elliott made six of seven 3-pointers as San Antonio came from 18 points down in the third quarter to beat the stunned Portland Trail Blazers 86-85 Monday. Tim Duncan added 23 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots. Elliott's winning shot gave the Spurs their only lead of the game.
The San Antonio Spurs won their eighth consecutive playoff game, 86-85 over Portland on Monday, to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals.
David Robinson passed George Gervin as San Antonio's career playoff scoring leader in the Spurs' 86-85 win over Portland on Monday.
``In a word, I would probably say gut-wrenching,'' _ Portland coach Mike Dunleavy after San Antonio's Sean Elliott hit a game-winning 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining.
