One person arrested, charged in Saturday Candy Lane shooting
FLORENCE, S.C. -- A Lynchburg man has been arrested and charged in connection with a Saturday shooting on Candy Lane in Florence County.
Maurice Durant, 37, of 691 C.C. Road, Lynchburg, is charged with one count of attempted murder in connection with the 10:42 p.m. incident, according to a release issued by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the reported shooting and, upon arrival, found that the victim had been taken by private vehicle to a Florence area hospital for treatment, according to the release.
“Witnesses indicated that the incident occurred following a verbal dispute during a family gathering,” Maj. Mike Nunn wrote in the release.
Durant, who was arrested Sunday, remains in custody at the Florence County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond and the investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
