Seattle police officer fatally shoots allegedly armed man
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police are investigating after an officer fatally shot an armed man following a chase and scuffle.
KOMO-TV reports it began Monday night when an officer pulled over a man in a mini-mart parking lot. The driver left the vehicle and officers chased him.
Seattle police detective Mark Jamieson says the driver darted across traffic but one officer caught up, grabbed him and a struggle began.
More police arrived as the driver tried to fight off the officer. Investigators said the driver pulled out a handgun, but the officer fired first and killed him.
No information was available about the officer who fired his gun, but police said he was slightly hurt from the struggle.
It was also unclear why the driver was being pulled over in the first place.
