Britsburgh hosts ‘Side by Side - Britannia!’ at Heinz Memorial Chapel
Britsburgh will host “Side by Side -- Britannia!” at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 in Heinz Memorial Chapel, South Bellefield Ave., Pittsburgh.
The “centenary (100th anniversary) tribute in words and music” to those who served in World War I is presented in collaboration with the chapel and Duquesne University, according to a news release.
The event will commemorate the lives sacrificed and celebrate the freedoms preserved by both the fallen and survivors, Britsburgh’s website notes.
“Virtually every family in Britain and many in the U.S. were affected by the loss of a relative or friend who fought in this war to preserve our freedom. We will sing their songs, learn about local World War I heroes, and be uplifted by some rousing music of the time,” the site states.
The evening will highlight, emphasize and continue the “special relationship” and friendship Great Britain and the U.S. forged during the war, the site adds.
Admission is $10.
Proceeds will benefit the Britsburgh WWI Centennial Fund, in aid of veterans of all wars, the site states.
