New Haven mayor’s State of City address postponed

March 7, 2019

New Haven’s State of the City Address planned for Monday has been postponed because of an emergency in Mayor Terry McDonald’s family.

The address, preceded by a dinner, will take place at 7 p.m. April 8 at The Orchid, 11508 Lincoln Highway East.

The dinner will start at 6 p.m. Those with tickets for Monday who cannot attend on April 8 should call the New Haven Chamber of Commerce at 749-4484 for a full refund.

Ticketholders are being contacted by the dinner’s organizers, said the mayor’s secretary Deb-Anne Smith.

A limited number of tickets for April 8 may be available by calling  the chamber. The cost is 200 for a table of eight. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.

The address is free and open to the public, but those attending are asked to arrive by 6:45 p.m.

This is McDonald’s last address as mayor. He is retiring after his fifth term as mayor, having served as both a Democrat and, more recently, as a Republican.
