WASHINGTON (AP) _ Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta was hospitalized Friday after suffering a nosebleed. His spokesman said Mineta was doing fine.

``It was just a precaution,'' said department spokesman Chet Lunner.

He said the secretary suffered the nosebleed en route to work and was treated at a clinic inside the department. The bleeding was stopped but he was taken to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where his condition was being evaluated.

``They took him out on a gurney as a precaution. He was lying there making cell phone calls on the way out the door,'' Lunner said.
