Colleen Uecker-Nehls, 84, Watertown
Colleen A. Uecker-Nehls “Toots” (nee Peterman), 84, Watertown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek.
Colleen was born May 31, 1934, in Hartford, to Louis and Mary (nee Kettelsen) Peterman. She was united in marriage to the late Virgil Uecker for 43 years and the late Palmer Nehls for 18 years.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was part of the ladies aide. She worked at Chrysler Corporation in Hartford, was a cook at Neosho School for more than 30 years, and belonged to the Hustisford Sinissippi Homemakers Club. Colleen helped on the family farm while raising her children and also loved sewing, crafting, cooking, card clubs, and most of all loved spending time with grandchildren and family.
Colleen is survived by her loving sons, Gerald (Sandra) Uecker and Steven (Diane) Uecker; stepchildren, Sheryl Nehls, Christine Gabsch, and Gene (Janet) Nehls; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; dear siblings, Betty Schmidt, Florence Weisgerber, Arlene (Robert) Kuehl, Richard (Barbara) Peterman, and Linda (Robert) Fehrman; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lee Peterman, Barbara Peterman, Robert Kuehl and Robert Fehrman. She is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David; brothers, Gene and Dean; sisters, Dorothy, Maxine Zimmerman, and Ruby Klatt; siblings-in-law, Wilmer Schmidt, and Leonard Weisgerber.
A funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 132 E. Church St., Neosho, with the Rev. Joshua Kesting officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Interment at Hustisford Cemetery.
