Cancer support center receives grant

HARVARD — The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Cancer Support Center received a $20,000 grant from the Nashoba Valley Healthcare Community Fund.

The grant will support services that help cancer patients with physical and mental coping skills at low or no cost.

It was awarded through the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, which in 2018 awarded $176,881 in grants to 18 nearby nonprofits.

Two new authors read in Dracut

DRACUT — Two authors will head to Christ Church United on June to read and discuss from their debut books.

Author Julie Wu will read from her novel, “The Third Son,” a love story rife with Taiwanese history.

Grace Talusan, a graduate of Tufts University, will read from her memoir, “The Body Papers,” which explores her experience as a Filipino immigrant.

The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
