West Jordan man arrested after reportedly punching, biting Provo police officers
Provo police arrested a 25-year-old West Jordan man after he reportedly punched and bit police officers.
Travis Fuimaono was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of the third-degree felony of assault on a peace officer in uniform, the class A misdemeanor of assault on a peace office in uniform, the class B misdemeanor of interference with an arresting officer and the infraction of failure to make a written report after a car crash.
Police responded Tuesday to a traffic crash where two occupants of a vehicle walked away, according to a police report. An officer located the vehicle that had damage to the front and to a stop sign. A man in another vehicle reportedly approached the office and said that vehicle belonged to Fuimaono.
Fuimaono was belligerent when officers attempted to talk to him, according to the report. He reportedly charged after an office and tried to punch him. Officers attempted to take Fuimaono into custody, and he didn’t follow commands and resisted arrest.
As officers tried to arrest Fuimaono, he reportedly punched an officer in the chest and bit another officer in his thigh in the groin area, which caused significant injury to the officer’s thigh.
