Prominent Bonn Fortune Teller Goes Into Hiding
BONN, West Germany (AP) _ Pythia from the Rhine, an 86-year-old gypsy who became famous telling the fortunes of politicians, apparently got into a financial argument with her clan and has gone into hiding.
Pythia’s real name is Margarethe Goussanthier and her formal working title is Madame Buchela. During her 40 years of reading the future, she was invited regularly to government receptions in Bonn and was seen talking to such notables as Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Queen Elisabeth II of Britain.
Ernst Wohlfarth, a judge in nearby Sinzig, said Madame Buchela fled her large clan four weeks ago and asked his court to choose a lawyer to handle her financial matters. He said the clan also had hired a lawyer.
″She lives at a friend’s house, has stopped working and only receives very few very good friends,″ Wohlfarth said in a telephone interview.
Madame Buchela was reputed to have received up to 40 clients a day, but she has always refused to identify her customers.
Pythia was the priestess of the Oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece.
