Joey Bosa, Chargers defensive end, out until October: Report
Los Angeles Chargers star defensive end Joey Bosa will not get his 2018 season started anytime soon.
Bosa missed Week 1 and was ruled out for Week 2 with a foot injury, but he is expected to miss even more time, extending his absence into October, ESPN reported.
The Chargers thought it was a minor injury. Bosa initially suffered it during training camp, he sat out the preseason and his head coach, Anthony Lynn, called it merely a “sore foot.”
But the injury, a bone bruise in Bosa’s left foot, is taking more time to heal than expected.
Bosa is in his third NFL season, and it’s the second time an injury kept him from playing the first few weeks. As a rookie in 2016, Bosa missed September with a hamstring injury and only played 12 games. He still racked up 10.5 sacks that year before recording 12.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 16 games in 2017.
