Marjorie Hurd, 92, Englewood, Florida

Marjorie Jean Hurd, 92, of Englewood, Florida, passed away May 20, 2018. Friends and family gathered on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, in Englewood, Florida, to celebrate her life. She lived in Portage, Rio and Englewood, Florida.

Marge was born in Portage, the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (nee Lehman) Zastrow. Early years were spent working at Badger Ordnance in Baraboo and at Walcott Studio in Portage. After marrying Fred, she moved to Rio where she lived most of her adult life and raised her family.

In their later years, Marge and Fred developed a real passion for antiques. Together, they ran the Red Fox Antique Shop in Rio and spent many happy years together hunting for and selling treasures of all shapes and descriptions.

An avid reader, several books were always by her side as were her crossword puzzles that she never failed to dispatch quickly.

Marge was a kind and gentle woman who never uttered a negative word about anyone and always made the best of any situation. She is remembered and loved for her good humor, positive outlook and beautiful soul.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ashley (Don Schneider) of Englewood, Florida; son, Thomas (Jeanie) Hurd of Browntown; grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Ashley of South Lake Tahoe, California, Jessica (Dan) Bohnert of La Crosse, Jason Hurd (Brittany Klemm) of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Natalie Hurd, Abigail Hurd and Travis Ashley; sister-in-law, Elayne Hurd of Rio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hurd; and her father and mother, Ernest and Elsie Zastrow.
