Police: Man killed in crash that sent car over guard rail

August 7, 2018

TOPSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police in Massachusetts say a 41-year-old man died in a crash that sent his car over a guard rail into a wooded area.

Topsfield Police Chief Evan Haglund says the Lawrence man was driving south at high speed when the vehicle crashed at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The Salem News reports the vehicle flipped over multiple times before it went over the rail, throwing the driver from the vehicle. He was the only person in the vehicle.

No name was released.

Police believe speed was the primary factor, but are researching other possible causes.

A Massachusetts State Police accident reconstruction team is investigating with local police.
