Arsenal Ends Championship Season

John Arne Riise scored two goals as Liverpool beat Ipswich 5-0 Saturday to claim second place in the Premier League.

With the loss, Ipswich was demoted to the first division next season. Manchester United finished in third place.

Manchester United finished its Premier League season with a scoreless tie against Charlton. It was United’s first finish out of first or second place in the Premier League.

Aresnal closed out its league- and F.A Cup-winning season with a 4-3 win over visiting Everton.

Frenchman Thierry Henry scored twice to top the league scoring race with 24.

Arsenal lost only three league games this season and was undefeated on the road in league play. The Gunners finished the season with 13 consecutive league wins, a Premier League record.

In other games it was, Blackburn 3, Fulham 0; Chelsea 1, Aston Villa 3; Leeds 1, Middlesbrough 0; Leicester 2, Tottenham 1; Liverpool 5, Ipswich 0; Manchester United 0, Charlton 0; Southampton 3, Newcastle 1; Sunderland 1, Derby 1; West Ham 2, Bolton 1.

In Premier League games:

Blackburn 3, Fulham 0

U.S. international Eddie Lewis started for the first time in 18 months in the loss for Fulham. Andy Cole scored twice and Damien Duff added a goal for Blackburn.

Leicester 2, Tottenham 1 (0-0)

Goalkeeper Kasey Keller made his seventh straight start for Tottenham.

Paul Dickov and Matthew Piper scored for Leicester. Teddy Sheringham scored on a penalty in the 54th minute for Tottenham.
