Sheriff: Woman charged with littering for dumping dog’s body
CARBON HILL, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama woman who police say illegally dumped a dead dog has been charged with littering.
Citing a Walker County Sheriff’s Office release, news outlets report an investigator followed up on a photo posted to Facebook that showed 33-year-old Addie Ann Brooks conducting the illegal dump, resulting in Brooks’ Friday arrest.
The investigator learned Brooks had kept a dog who had been run over in her truck for two days. When she saw a buzzard in her truck with the animal, she went to a bridge and used a piece of lumber to push the carcass out of the truck and onto the ground. The sheriff’s office says Brooks acted “as if she wasn’t doing anything wrong” when confronted by the photographer.
It’s unclear whether Brooks has a lawyer.
