Housatonic appoints new dean of student services

Bridgeport — Housatonic Community College has a new dean of student services.

Kim McGinnis was appointed to the position over the summer. She brings 20 years of expertise in college leadership, according to Paul Broadie, the college president.

“Her wealth of knowledge and experience is invaluable, as we move forward with innovative initiatives to enhance and streamline student services, increase student engagement and remain steadfast in providing an exceptional academic and co-curricular experience for our students throughout their educational journey,” Broadie said.

Prior to her appointment, McGinnis served as Interim Vice President of Student Support Services at Long Beach City College in California. She was also the first female President of Williamsburg Technical College, dean of student services at Miami Dade College, vice president of Continuing Education at James Sprunt Community College and dean of technical and vocational programs at Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine in North Carolina.
