HP Middle School student charged with stabbing another student

PAMPLICO, S.C. -- A 12-year-old Hannah-Pamplico Middle School student stabbed 14-year-old middle school student with a pair of scissors Wednesday afternoon.

At 1:50 p.m. the school resource officer was called to the back hall of the middle school where the deputy met a teacher and assistant principal who had the 12-year-old in hand, according to an incident report from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy cuffed the student and placed them in the back of a cruiser.

The victim was tended to by teachers and the school nurse until her mother arrived at the school and was then transported to a Florence area hospital for treatment, according to the incident report.

The 12-year-old was charged with second-degree assault and battery and given into the custody of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, according to the report.
