Passenger Jet Door Pops Open During Flight; No One Hurt
SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ A rear cabin door on a TWA passenger jet popped open in flight and was secured by a pilot who reportedly tied it shut with a seatbelt. No one was injured.
Emergency crews were on hand as the Boeing 727 landed Tuesday night, said Barbara Prossen, a spokeswoman at San Antonio International Airport. Flight 199 had been bound from St. Louis to San Antonio with 74 passengers aboard.
Two San Antonio broadcast stations, KSAT-TV and WOAI-AM, reported that a pilot rushed to the rear of the jet and managed to secure the door with a seatbelt. WOAI-AM said the door flew open and the jet lost cabin pressure.
A spokesman for TWA did not immediately return telephone calls this morning. Prossen had no further details on the incident.
